RELATIONAL AWARENESS
Client Story
A couple came to SkyKlar feeling confused and frustrated.
Before marriage, they were known by friends and family as the couple everyone admired. They were playful, deeply connected, adventurous, and genuinely enjoyed being together.
Their wedding became one of those celebrations people continued talking about long after it ended.
Yet within a relatively short period after marriage, something shifted.
The qualities that once attracted them to one another became the source of conflict.
The husband was naturally social, expressive, spontaneous, and playful.
The wife found herself increasingly frustrated by these same behaviours.
She wanted more predictability, more control, and greater certainty. What once felt exciting now felt uncomfortable.
As we explored their dynamic, the deeper layers emerged.
The challenge was that she had spent much of her life holding herself to impossible standards. She struggled to accept her own imperfections, emotions, and humanity. Without realising it, she had begun applying those same expectations to her husband.
The more she judged herself internally, the harder it became to accept difference externally.
As she developed greater self-compassion and acceptance, something unexpected happened.
She no longer felt the need to constantly reshape him.
And he no longer felt the need to defend who he was.
The relationship softened.
Playfulness returned.
Laughter returned.
Friendship returned.
Neither person changed fundamentally.
They simply stopped fighting the qualities that had brought them together in the first place.
Transformation
From trying to change one another to accepting themselves and each other more fully.
